Members of the military have sacrificed so much for the United States that many American citizens become compelled to contribute time, energy or money toward the troops. There are various ways to support your troops. Learn different ways in letting the military know you are grateful.

Send cards
If you personally know someone in the armed forces, consider sending something as simple as a card. Whether a soldier is based domestically or deployed overseas, a card can touch his or her heart. If you do not know any soldiers personally, you can find an organization that can pair you up as a pen pal with a service person. Keep in mind that the military is no longer accepting cards or packages with "Any Wounded Soldier" written upon it.

Send gifts
Again, if you personally know someone in the military, you can send a thoughtful gift. A great time to send gifts is during the holidays. Also, consider sending something on their birthday. Depending on your relationship with this person in the military, consider sending a sentimental gift to show that you are thinking about him or her.

Send a care package
Just like the name states, a care package is a great way to simply show that you care. Care packages usually include nonperishable foods, from chocolate to teas. A care package can provide the comforts of home to a deployed soldier overseas. Care packages are a sentimental gift that can mean a lot to a person far from home. Companies actually exist whose sole objective is to arrange care packages for members of the military. Consider creating your own or using a company to create and send your care package. If you don’t know anyone in the military, but want to support the troops, some organizations may even send off your care package to a soldier in need.
