It is hard enough to live outside your country, but it is even harder when you leave to fight for your own country. America owes a lot to the military men, who give their lives to fight for the nation. It is important that Americans keep them in mind, but to be of great help to them, you can send them donations and care packages. They love receiving gifts from back home, so sending some goods to them will make a whole lot of difference.
While military men will enjoy everything sent to them from back home (and they do appreciate the thought and effort put into those donations), they are a few popular items they ask for. Snacks and entertainment are both a part of the military wish list. First, send in food, snacks, and drinks. The military has an adequate supply of food, but they miss some treats from home. This includes snack foods such as beef jerky, Slim Jim’s, Fig Newtons, Oreos, Rice Krispies Treats, hot chocolate packets, Fritos, Cheez-It, Chex Mix, Ritz, Fruit Roll-ups, popcorn, Mac and cheese, Ramon noodles, Hamburger Helper, Girl Scout Cookies, cake products such as Little Debbies and Hostess, cereal, caffeinated gum or candy. For a more healthier route, feel free to send instant oatmeal packets, powdered juices, protein bars, herbal teas, sunflower and pumpkin seeds, hard pretzels, and dried fruit.
Also, it is important to remember that when selecting food items to send to military men, select items in individual wraps or in small packages. Limit items to those only store brought. When selecting condiments, sauces and salad dressing to bring, choose those that are not in glass bottles.
When sending toiletries, remember that soldiers are provided with toiletries but sometimes they miss their favorite brands. Also, some soldiers are allergic to some ingredients in toiletries, so do not send hotel samples.
