| If your child has shown any interest in attending college then it is important that you start preparing them for college from a very young age. Now, getting into college is pretty easy thing to do, after all you just have got high enough SAT and ACT scores to be accepted. However, if your child has expressed an interest in getting into a special program with limited space or specific school, it would be wise to start thinking about taking some extra steps towards creating a great resume for your child.
Colleges and universities usually have some specific requirements that they look for when determining which students will be accepted into a program and which will not. While test scores and GPA are considered, they tend to look more at what the students were involved in. For example, if your child is interested in entering a veterinary program, which have limited spaces, it would be important to show on their transcripts that they excelled in science classes and they were involved in extracurricular activities like 4H. Volunteering within the community is also a great thing to have on a résumé. Colleges and universities also look as your child’s essay submission. It is important that your child’s essay be well written and interesting. If your child is applying for a specialty program that has many of applicants, the essay may be a defining factor in who gets in. When you learn of the topic of the essay, have your child really think about how they want to reply. Their reply to the question should be insightful, different, and engaging. |
