When a family member comes back from the military, this can be a very exciting time for everyone involved. Make your loved one feel special by planning out a special day for them. There are numerous options for celebrating a military reunion. You may want to arrange ahead of time what your service member prefers to do upon getting back. For example, you don’t want to throw a huge potluck if your loved one wants to simply spend time resting and relaxing in the comforts of their home. Figure out what your loved one wants to do and then plan out the perfect day for their return.

Throw a Party
You can make this gathering large or small. It truly depends on the personality or preference of your service member. If your service member is highly sociable and an extrovert, you may want to throw a party for them. Decorate your home or backyard with balloons and streamers. Create a play list of your loved one’s favorite songs. Prepare food and drinks ahead of time.

Go out to dinner
Book reservations at your loved one’s favorite restaurant and head there from the airport. This is a great idea for entire families, including kids. While waiting for your food, your family can catch up over lost time. Dinner is a wonderful way to have good food without the pressure of having to make any.

Relax
Some family members who get back from deployment simply want some good rest and relaxation. After all, they may have been suffering from discomfort for months on end. Make sure to create a comfortable home before your family member gets back. Play relaxing music, fluff those pillows, light candles and include relaxing aromatherapy for your loved one to come back home to. Also, have a good amount of homemade food ready.
